Some people make little and some make a lot. It all depends on WHAT your site content is. Where are the ads. If you run a real estate site, then you are going to make more than running a hobby shop. Simply because ads for real estate pay a lot more than a $1 hobby store part. So, if you want more money, then put up a site relating to ads that pay more. Now, if you are a real estate company and you want your own leads, then you wouldn't do adsense, because you would basically be driving traffic to a competitor. If the ads are not there, you are going to have a better chance at getting the lead than someone else. If you are running a forum on real estate, then you are most likely not getting your own leads, so you DO want to have ads. Google/Yahoo ads. doesn't really matter. Google, for me, has been great. Yahoo, well, just started, so I don't know as I don't have enough time / page impressions to compare them yet except that yahoo needs more of a client base. So, you are more likely to get ads that don't relate to the site. I have been doing google ads for 5 months. Pays more than I thought and am very happy with it right now. Someone said they made about $100 and then was cancelled for cheating. I would like to hear more about that. I have never clicked on my own ads, but was curious if/when google would catch people. Not saying you did that, but am curious as to their reason. I have read a lot of information on people cheating and how to do it, but decided to stay away from that.
Hmm... my average banner is about 0.18-0.19. And I'm doing well with such small figures. I simply do not believe in financial and medicine niches. Yes, there are really high-paying keywords, but there also are lots of resources that are waiting for these ads. These niches a simply full of sites and getting there is too costly and seems to have no sense. Yes, I would be happy to have average not 0.19, but for example 0.40. That would simply double my income. But instead of expecting such gifts from heaven, I think I should better double my inbound traffic - that's much easy to do
Less. I agree with you there. I didn't say to target high paying keywords. Since they are probably the ones being targetted. Find your niche and work it. I too would much rather have 1000 hits at $.01 than 100 hits at $.02 I am sure this is a big issue with people/sites right now. So many people trying to get the very high paying keywords like Mesothelioma and not making a penny since no one will find the site based on so many medical sites that already have a well established site relating to the subject. More likely to get that hit. Yes, definately agreed on your more inbound traffic statement. Guess that is why you have DPS working for you. heh.
No... content is King That's really true. We are just planning to extend our content and make it at least 50 times more. We have enough digital and human resources to do it. So, hope it will seriously increase our income. About DP - I'm even thinking to remove link to my site from my signature. This link does not let me talk about my income, because I will violate TOS
Content is king for ranking. Agreed. Backlinks are major too. Everything plays a part. If you didn't have rank, the content wouldn't matter as it wouldn't be found. Love your signature site link. I didn't think anyone really had their "real" sites in their signature. 1 backlink really doesn't count.
You know... I never concentrated on building inbound links. Maybe I'm wrong, but I have no time and inspiration to do it. I didn't even submit my site to search engines. I own several resources with PR5-6. And when creating some new project, I simply make several inbound links to new resource. Search Engine robots come themselves and do what they need to do. For example, the site in my signature is online for about 3 monts. This month (currently is the middle of 4th day) Googlebot has already made 30K hits and MSNBot - 5K. The same with inbound links. People link to my resource because they want to do it, without any link exchange. The same do I. And I've read on forums that 2-way link exchange does not perform well now, so I simply do not see reason to do it I would better spend time to create more functionality or content. Thanks. I was working hard to make people love it. Hope I didn't waste my time Yes, it is my site. And it is not for backlink purposes. I just hope someone sometimes will suggest some new tip to optimize ads layout...
i make about 250$ for monthl i goht 200k imperssions this is a forum only and i just established my new articles and turoials site and i hope to see my ctr higher than my forums
Google Adsense had been the primary income for my site for many years. I've since diversified into other areas (YPN, Chitika, Banners, etc). Now it makes up about 35% or my income or so. It definitely works the best when it comes to targeting ads to my content.
It's a music website that has low paying ads. Correct, it is low and I should have a higher eCPM, but my CTR isn't half bad actually. I'm looking around for other companies to use or pre-sponsored advertising. I might look into doing self-serving PPC.
Agree. We made some optimization and resulted in about 650$ for 200K impressions on one of our sites. But yes... 500$ for 200K impression is a normal achievable average.
Last month (my first) $44. This month will be baaad. Similar CTR but now I'm getting single figure amounts for clicks.
I'm very happy with the performance of Adsense. It pays the hosting and domain bills and leaves me with a bit left over. Considering that I never even thought of making money from my sites that's a huge bonus.
