Well, my friend and I have ran this site for a month now and as of me writting this ammassed a grand total of just over 150,000 hits. Albeit of these 150,000 hits we have had only about 2,000 uniques, but I personally see that as a good thing as it shows people are willing to check back to see how many hits the site is getting, which is the whole point. We did some monetizing of the site, started with adsense and made about $10 in the first two weeks, and then decided to auction off 10 ad spots starting at $1 each for a weekly spot. We did this for 2 weeks and made a grand total of about $15. So in one month we made about $25... not alot but, we paid absolutely nothing for advertising either, so besides our $3 hosting costs and ebay fees it was all profit and only about 30 minutes work. We also created a Facebook group for the site, which started off ok and we have about 100 members on it right now. Anyways, I know the general rule is that a site is worth 2 times its annual income... which doing the math of $25 per month would be about $600. However, I think this site does have a lot of potential but just needs someone who has the desire to take it in that direction. For this reason, we are contemplating listing it for sale, but wanted to check with our valued friends here at DP to see what their opinions are on its current value as well as its potential value before we make our final decision. Thanks!
I look at this idea and see major potential. I'm not to sure it is a wise idea to sell it so early as you may be kicking yourself in the butt later, especially after seeing what the website could be. I'm sure the website is worth a couple hundred, but I can see it being worth a heck of a lot more, maybe even in the six digit figures. If it were me in your position, I wouldn't take anything less than a good chunk of change simply based on potential.
Thanks, anyone else? Also, not sure if this is good or bad, but in that month we managed to work up 2,213,733 for our Alexa ranking. Nothing special of course, but I have had other sites do much much worse and some not even get listed for a few months.
