As I know YouTube doesn't makes a "Top comment", video author can choose top comment from all comments
As I know YouTube doesn't makes a "Top comment", This video author can choose top comment from all comments this video author can enable a pinned comment.
Have a look on the discussion here and see if it will help you on your query, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27781751/what-is-youtube-comment-system-sorting-algorithms
The system used to be: Quality of google account (Age+status) Amount of Likes It might be changed now but I doubt it. Just start getting accounts with good rep and post comments that get alot of likes, and you should get top comments in no time.
There is no certain criteria for the top comment in youtube. The uploader decides which comment he would like to show as a top comment.
As everyone said, The video uploader can choose comments to be shown as top comments. Otherwise, it would be most liked and most replied comments.
*[number of dislikes] people are/don't like [video topic]* Let's be honest.... The YT community isn't really the brightest one. Just take a look at other popular posts on similar videos and write something similar. Of course you won't rank a comment on a video that already has hundreds of comments, but use new videos from the same creator.
I can't help you, but I can give you some insight. I don't think that your comments being taken down was because of the language. I got the top comment on the last two CollegeHumor videos, but 2 days later for one of them and 21 hours later for the other, they are both gone. I didn't curse at them. All I did was make a joke, but they are still gone. On the video “Make fun of me” I got about 500 more likes than the second top comment, yet mine disappeared and they got the top spot. Even stranger is how CollegeHumor even replied to my comment. I can't help you, but I wanted to show you that the circumstances were the same thing happening to others.
