Hello, How youtube.com, orkut.com, facebook and myspace websites are earning ? Why they created such websites ? whats their income source ? Can anybody tell me ?
All these sites earn through ads. All these websites are backed up by big companies so at the begining there is no profit. As they gamin popularity, they put the ads which becomes their source of income.
All of them have ads placed in their website Maintaining a website 'how ever big the site might be' is not gonna cost you more than $100,000 / year maximum. So they would surely be making good profit than this. Yes, Recently a popular website which ranks in early 300's in Alexa agreed that they are spending over $300,000 an year. But $100,000 is more than enough as far as I know.
lol WHAT????? HAHAHAHAHA...that line made my day...lmao! Oh boy...welcome to the world of internet my friend. On what basis can you say maintaining a website WONT cost more than 10k$/YEAR?? lol
lol...even then. You think maintaining a website like Youtube/facebook etc wont cost more than 100,000$/year?? lmao!! It costs approx a 2-3million$/month or more to run youtube my friend...not 100K/year....
Me n my friends have created social net. website, but v need dedi server n a sponsorer. How can v manage tht ? How to get sponsored
Just monetize your site if it has good traffic. Placing the ads really will improve your monetization or even will annoy your visitors and destroy your site traffic. Be careful with that.
I think they are earning from ads. These sites are too big and very famous so these sites are earning from the ads.
I've read in a blog something like: the principle of this new websites is to first develop and launch the site, after that spend a lot of time in beta and then try to find some way to get money from it, or even sell it. I believe in this statement and with a fund support is really easy to get this done....u just need a great idea...
I hate the idea of selling the website because what if you sell it for 50k and a year later it's value doubles and it's now worth 100k OMFG
Google paid $1.65 billion for youtube in 2006, and still seems to heamoraging cash in the form of lawsuits and staffing, hosting etc. I guess its a loss leading product to ensure people love the google brand. http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2008/may/09/google.youtube
Youtube makes money from movie trailers, other trailers on front page as these cost money to put on youtube. Youtube was created so friends could send each other funny videos, but people started putting music videos, movie trailers, etc and they had huge growth. Facebook has a ad system that anyone can sign up for, advertising on specific profiles, or for a large price, the entire facebook. Facebook was started to... umm... not sure... Myspace also has a ad system that I'm not sure how it works. Myspace was started to give everyone their own "space" that they can post their interests and personal information to share with friends.
Agreed! The last project I worked on is spending approximately 1M+ per year on maintenance and operation. A popular information site spends 60k per month on advertising alone. Their programmer staff is 5 x 100k per year = 500k + benefits, etc. This does not include the hardware updates, software updates, etc. The old saying is true, don't believe everything you read.
You can only get sponsor when your site is get big and is well known. You can email them and make a deal with them such as allow them to put their ads at your site
I think most of them earn through adverts. Maybe at the onset they find venture capitalists to back them up. And then as the site grows they rely on ads for profits
Also, companies like youtube have a partnership system. They profit a bit if you put adsense up on your own videos. They also have featured videos by sponsors to their site.
