sounds good what made you think that you should make a million dollar in first year? its $2739 / day. What's your strategy? How far you have succeeded?
Think about Yahoo directory, if they get nearly 10 links per day their everage will be US$2990 per day.
Yahoo directory makes well over hundred million dollars a year. Alot of directories make over a million a year. About how far I have succeeded, lol, not even close.

I was doing directory submissions for last one+ year. Lately around 6 months back I decided to have my own dirs. Finally I got 32 directories.
When i joined the forum in september, i was amazed to see lot of Alive and aviva signature links. Then slowly started looking at DP directories forum.. I am creating a directory now) I am new in this business and there is much to be done. It is cool to have your own directory, I think. And I wanna to make money with it=)
I got into this business some months ago, with my partner, who has been in here for much longer. I saw a good potential on this market so I decided to invest some time and money to it. It is going well untill know. Not disappointed at all.
I started submitting my sites to directories, and thought 'hey I can do this' So I made a few. I'm happier now after 6 months I can mostly pay for my promotions from income, but still a long way from making a profit.
i got in by mistake! it was a lousy day, just sat on the net browsing, stumbled upon a domain registrar, typing a few random kwords struck a 3 letter domain! wallah, and im a directory owner now! that was a month or so ago! lets see if i open more!
