Make sure the content is unique, especially the page titles / meta descriptions and that there is at least a paragraph or two of content different than on other pages. If that's the case, then making the page more important (direct link/s from powerful pages on your site or links from other sites directly to that page). Google would have to think it's not important enough to include in their regular index, so that's all you have to solve.

most people in other forums too say linking those pages to "authority sites/pages" (higher PR) should solve the problem.

You can get out of the supplemental index by pointing some high quality links to those pages.
It will take some time though...

    1. Individualize page metadata
The main reason pages end up in the supplemental index is because of identical metadata.. Its very important to have different title, keyword and description tags for each page.

    2. Original Content.
Original content is not only good for your traffic, its also helps search engines to distinguish your site and establish the validity of your pages.. Imformation thats on your pages and no where else creates weight for you pages..

    3. create back links to force the bots back to spider your page and thus notice the changes you have made.

    my suggestion..

HOW TO GET OUT OF SUPPLEMENTAL RESULT.................

    1. make sure your page should not contain spam elements and that you don't use any spam technique just to promote your site..

    2. make it SE friendly.. those URL's that contains character like "?" can't be crawled by the spider..

    3. add more links to your site.. so that it would be easier for the spider to crawl..

If you just made a search here on DP you would of have found the reason. Some of the members of DP have already answered here, but lets line up things for good.

    1). Unique meta data
    a). Unique title
    b). Unique meta description
c). (tho most important) unique content
2). Backlinks from authority sites (higher PR)
    3). Internal page linking

Keep Title and Description of each page unique.
Add fresh content to the pages and avoid duplicate content.
Get some good PR backlinks from related sites.

These must do th trick for you.........:)
