How you describe Niche?

Sorry to ask, but I want to ask how you describe niche? I still didn't know what is the minimum category for "niche?".

I give you an example, when I typed "glass root" in google and it contains only 100,000 websites, do you think it is a niche? Or we can describe some keywords as a niche when we see how many people typed about it in google? For example 50,000 people searched for that "glass root" in google last month, do you think it is a niche or not? If not, then what is the minimum category for "niche"?

One more, what tools can help me to find out how many people searched for one keyword last month in google? For example I want to know how many people typed "news" last month in google...

I don't think there might be a minimum category for "niche". "Niche" is a very relative matter. Just as Wiki says: "A niche market may be thought of as a narrowly defined group of potential customers", that's why it really depends on your business. A specific, let's say gardening niche, is not the same as a niche in the PC business.

then what the percentage? Just like you said, gardening niche, if 1,000,000 searchers is looking for gardening, how many do you need to say it as a niche?

niche market is a focused, targetable portion of a market.

The trick to capitalizing on a niche market is to find or develop a market niche that has customers who are accessible, that is growing fast enough, and that is not owned by one established vendor already.

Question is --- is this niche holds enough financial potential for you? Niche having 50,000 searchers per month can bring you measly six bucks per month if 1% of them visits your site and 3% of them clicks your ads and you yield 40 cents per click, so it is not a viable niche if monetizing by CPC or CPM.

If you plan to monetize by affiliate deals, niche is targeted group where affiliate deals are available -- and if you're lucky, you can gain much more with even less searchers.

Niche is your audience, big or small.

Niche is determined by business, not keywords. 'selling bananas' is a niche. 'selling ripen bananas' is a niche. 'providing advice to grow banana trees' is a niche. 'Nutrition tips and advice' is a niche also, with 'banana nutrition' being one of the keywords for this niche.

Not sure, what business can you make around 'potassium bananas'.

I would describe a niche as a well defined but a narrow market of potential customers who have shown interest to an extent where they are able to pay for it if they require certain useful info....

In a layman's term, not everyone is interested in everything. We have particular thoughts which are specific enough to let us know what kind of market we fit in.

For example, "Soccer" is a huge niche ... "Soccer shoes" is a smaller niche, "Soccer training" is another small niche .... So it's really upto you on what niche you decide to work with :) Ultimately your profits matter in the end!

Now you're talking about keyword research, not niche research. And while they're related, there is quite a difference. Please skim the Keyword forum for information.

PS. One advice - if you're selling bananas, correct title is Buy bananas, not Sell bananas. And vice versa.

so if i want to focus on market "rippen bananas", then you think I should change my title into "buy rippen bananas"?

If you're selling them, yes, it *could* be feasible.

in my opinion "niche" can refert o any group or words or target marget that you can focus on. it can be big or small group or market and should have potential to make money out of. It should related to your products or services you are providing. also it should be something you have some knowledge of or interested in.

    just my thought though.
