How you can make more with Adbrite than you can with Adsense

First, let me say I'm extremely pleased with the performance of Adbrite. Most site owners say that Adsense is the best advertising publisher and earns them the most money. But if you use Adbrite correctly, you can earn a lot more.

Adbrite is one of the few ad publishers that runs quite a few CPM ads. The beauty of CPM advertising is you get paid to show ads a certain amount of times. Whether your visitors click the ad or not doesn't matter.

But to get those CPM ads on your site, the key is ensuring you have good keywords in each of your ad campaigns when you set them up initially. A good start would be to look at the specific Adbrite "Content Categories" such as "arts", "entertainment", "business", "culture", "society", etc... and build on those. Use those categories as your keywords.

While Adbrite recommends against approving your advertisers manually, I cannot stress the importance of ignoring this and doing it anyway for two reasons:

    1. NEVER approve any 3rd party ads. Small advertisers like Adbrite have trouble controlling the content of these ads and they'll often contain code that will set off your visitors spyware detection. The threat this code contains is small, but you never know.

    2. Approve as many CPM ads as you can justify that are relevant to your site that your visitors might benefit from. Be very selective on the number of Text ads you approve since they don't get many clicks. For some advertisers, running ONLY CPM ads might be the best choice.

If you get lots of traffice but your visitors seem to be "ad blind", follow these steps and you'll be making more with Adbrite than you could ever imagine with Adsense.

Oh, and one final tip. Setup a separate Ad Campaign for your Archive pages if you own a forum. Run the inline ads and full page ads on ONLY those pages.

This is very good information... I've been running adbrite on my proxy site, but have been earning way less than what I have from adsense.

I'll have to give these a try.

I picked up about 500 new advertisers when I added most of the the Adbrite "Content Categories" to my keyword list. Added most of the CPM advertisers and a couple of the higher paying text ads.

    Great article!

Adbrite always display alternative ads(CPXinteractive I set) on my site.

I have some CPC and CPM ads.

I know why my PV decreased now, because of inline ads...

Adbrite earned about $3, and Cpxinteractive earned about $7 each day.

So I should have more ads approved on my site.

Great article Bulldog San, I'm currently experimenting with my own ad campaigns for CJ and other affiliate programs but after reading this I will have to try AdBrite.

Just out of curiosity, how many impressions did you need to earn $2.53?

I'm running Adbrite on a forum. Get about 24,000 impressions per day. Members are totally ad blind and I was making about $5 per week with Adsense. Making about $20 per week with Adbrite using this strategy now. The key is getting the default Adbrite categories in your keyword list and manually approving only CPM ads - can't stress that enough.
