i dont care if you think these are overdone, there is always room for improvement! what are the Top 7 Ways you would promote a photo rating site where would you get traffic from, how would you build traffic? So far, I have thought of toplists and posting in funny video forum sites for example. Yes I realize it takes work to build a site, so throw your best ideas at me on this. Thanks guys
Overdone. Think of a unique idea, even if it's just a unique idea in relation to photo rating websites.
"what are the Top 7 Ways you would promote a photo rating site" I don't have 7. And why that number? Are we talking about on people here??? If so.... 1. Along with their picture, put a brief bio on them. What they like. What they dislike. Do they have a boyfriend or girlfriend? If they are looking, can they be contacted??? What would they like to hear when being approached??? Have you ever seen a Playboy Centerfold profile? Sort of like that. They roll their mouse over the link, and it opens a new window. When they take the mouse away, it closes the window. It's easier for the users, and it takes up less space. Less clutter! 2. Put in additional pics of that person. 3. Make the design of the site easier on the eyes. The ones I have seen were too cluttered. 4. Put in dating, sex and relationship articles. Singles are looking at the pictures, have articles along with them. Have a link sort of like: "Want to meet a guy like this? Click here for 3 quick tips...." 5. Slip in some funny jokes and cartoon strips that matches your site. Get 'em to laugh, also. Are you a photographer? Do you have any interest in photography, or the gear people use, digital cameras, any of that? I'm guessing you must be, and probably this is where the photos will ( at least initially ) come from? The people you talk to about photo gear and show off the photos to are your first target ... hopefully with a good design, some good photos, and such, these people will help you spread the word. Sorry ... speaking of photos gets me started. Anyway, you said there's always room for improvement; if you find it and build a better mousetrap...
good replies. aside from ideas and how to keep them on the site, what are some ways to get them there in the first place? (no myspace...)
Could you try rephrasing your question? It's not clear who them refers to in "what are some ways to get them there in the first place?"
i mean people, visitors. Where might be good places to advertise/post to attract the kind of young people who would post their pics on a photo rating site? I like what perry says about getting them (again, surfers) to add a bio. only if they add some text will seo be helpful in the future, but what about now - for building the site? apart from adding articles, more like word of mouth techniques
