How would you start a business that buys products?

Instead of selling products I want to start an online business that buys products from people at fixed prices depending on quality/age/etc. Most e-commerce scripts are for selling products, I don't have any experience with e-commerce but I am an experienced webmaster. I have read up about it but it's a very small niche as far as I can tell. Any tips or suggestions on how this would work? For example after buying the said product who would I sell it to, to make profit? thanks

When you selling a product , you can have more products from supplier/factory.
If you have a business of buying product, you will buy many many products , endless products.
What is next step for you go on and what is the profit ?

Buying(wholesale) from A and selling(distributor) to B . There must be transaction you can make profit .

You can sell products being affiliate that does not require much involvement that you'll need to run your own e-commerce site.

This site - musicmagpie.co.uk buys cds online - actually I'm not sure where they sell them. It's pretty much a vital detail in a business. Buying stuff is EASY. Selling it - not so much.

See I was thinking about buying products (these will be new and used) and then selling them on ebay, craiglist, affiliates maybe, and to other retailers/wholesalers.

Yes its possible to buy and then resell it.
But it not very profitable cost you need to handle the shipping fee.
You can use a dropshipper if you want to maximize your profit coz they will handle all the shipping cost without you need to worry about it
