The question is like in the title. How would you spend $400/month on marketing new blog? I realize the question was asked before but marketing methods changes so quickly so i guess it's worth discussing again.

BTW. I am interested in methods where i get permanent value. So i am not interested in: link buying, adwords, etc.

I think i will spend money MONTHLY on:
    - article marketing (wriiting and submitting) ($200/month)
    - forum posting ($100/month)
    - blog commenting ($100/month)

    I would pay ONCE for:
    - social bookamarking
    - directory submission to few high quality directories

    What do you think?

    lol....

I am spending $500/month on a concentrated campaign managing my current site. The income stream generates around $300-$400/week ...slower this time of the year but it picks up in January after the holidays.

My advertisment is done on answer sites, bookmark, reviews and increase activity on social networks.

Well ...it is worth it however. The site is new and I intend to grow it and sell it on Flippa.

I sold one advertised the same way for two months and got 8,5k. So in my book that is the right way to go.

I would gladly spend $500/mo to gross $2000/mo net $1500/mo

but that means I would have to know what I am doing...:)

    most times I do not...

and you have to be careful, one could also spend $500/mo on advertsing and end up making nothing...

I have done that with adwords a few times....

You must be selling something on the blog...no one would spend $400/mo just to send traffic to a blog...
if you have nothing of value on "just another blog" then you should not expect much of anything...but
since you have not said anything about the blog, then how would anyone tell you what you have already said?

I agree with the above comment. It's a tall order to expect the $400/month budget to generate a worthwhile return from traffic alone. It seems that you would need to be selling products to profit from your investment.

Methinks you should come up with a proper business plan before you spend a single dollar. Promoting blog that doesn't generate money is not a very good idea.

Do you want to be just another blogger who spend hundreds of dollars monthly and after several months end up with no results.

If you have a blog then instead of spending dollars you should write high quality content in your niche and promote it. Here are some ways to promote your blog without spending a single dollar.
-Blog commenting - instead of spending money on blog commenting, you should start doing it on your own. Once you start making some money, then hire a virtual assistant.. !!
-Guest posting - Do some guest posting in your niche
-Build Backlinks - After you finish with some blog commenting and guest posting. Start building backlinks for your blog. It will help you to get seo traffic.
-Social Bookmarking site - You can use social bookmarking sites to get some good traffic.

If you still interested in spending hundreds of dollars then spend on Search engine optimization.

Have you considered doing a target facebook ad and send the traffic to "welcome page" with either a opt-in box or offer? If you do a google search you can often find $50 facebook coupons and do a test to see if this is a good fit for your market.

My advice would be to do niche marketing. This drives back much more targeted traffic that other forms of digital marketing.

Buy ads on blogs in your niche!

If you have nothing to start your marketing with, I would suggest using your $400 to build a list. With the list, it's easier for you to sell to the subscribers again and again....
