How would YOU promote THIS site?

5 months ago, I ambitiously created a Webmaster Forum with Technology, Marketing, Gaming, SEO - all in one forum for you.

Its now coming to a stage were, although I have 1000+ members, 23,000 posts and a good user base, I need to push on and try and appeal to the mass - you guys.

Currently I'm not getting enough members staying and being active, or traffic. The forum is unique, wonderful, awesome design. I invite you there.

I want your advice. I know the forum is great but:

    How can I get members
How can I get members active
    How can I get traffic?

I welcome you to the forum to sign up and start using it, I am the owner and will help you if you need anything.

Yeah, I would suggest hiring a few paid moderators to help you promote and do posting.

It's not going to come down to how pretty the site looks, how well it runs or how easy it is to navigate.

It's going to come down to content

    agree with you.

hire moderator and poster. they run ur forum as active.

people seen active topics and then they reply on their.

if i am reach on a forum and i see there is low topics and not any hot topics i leave that forum.

if i find some useful info or any hot forum then i signup there and participate in that forum.

    :) ;)

There is good content. We don't hire paid posters as we need genuine people who will be there and not people who will be there and then go once they aren't paid.

    Are you guys joining?

Your traffic says more about your content than yourwords, if the content was good enough, you visitors would stick

I agree with ronif, you should provide something that your users will stay around. If some user reach to a certain level of his/her membership then s/he will get this stuff or something similar.

Use social media. Use Facebook to reach out to your target demographic and attract them to join your site.

Start a youtube blog and start posting tech related videos. Embed the videos into your blogs and forum, use them to generate discussion, and put a link to your site in the description of the video.

There are a lot of examples of tech related videos on youtube - some good, and some bad. You want yours on the good side. If you create quality content, people will visit your site.

Well there are a couple different ways to do it.

Below are a couple ideas you can use to help promote a forum:

    1. Run a contest on the forum
    2. make it an ad-sharing forum
    3. Give away prizes

These are just a couple ideas that you could use to help promote the site and get people to be more active or to join up on the forum.

In my opinion, it takes atleast a few years for a forum to be a hit with out shelling out cash. Another way around the problem is write a few great articles, which will come up in search engine results and may be people will show up?

We do have great content, its just the awareness - nobody knows we exisit, and if they did, they'd use us.

Contests will only attract members for the prize, then they will leave, same with paid posting and rewards.

@~kev~ I see your active there, thanks!

wizardcrawler, most of my target audience are the non spammers, non scammers that are on here! :) and a mainstream tech crowd. :)

Give them a daily reason to show up, like a blog. Start a series of articles related to a topic popular with your visitors and do it for like a month or so. Then invite your visitors to start writing their own daily articles and send them in for approval.
