How would you promote a Proxy List?

I recently added a Proxy List to a strong PR5 web site that I own.

That page will (hopefully) soon rank for the term "proxy sites."

The current trouble is that I am receiving very few proxy site submissions. My database is small.

I set this up without thinking through the whole marketing aspect. (My usual M.O.!)

How would you market a proxy list? How would you get in touch with the proxy owners and tell them about your new list?

maybe you could try a freebie listing on the freebie forums, can also try social bookmarking and myspace marketing.

That's an interesting idea. It might be a wee bit misleading, as all listings are free. :D

Hmmm... I haven't had great luck with social bookmarking so far. But, mostly that is because all of my sites are really really boring. Perhaps this is a good candidate for another test.

I keep trying to force myself to do MySpace. At my age, I feel like a pedophile every time I login there. :D

Any other ideas? Anyone else? :)

I've been marketing www.freeprivatebrowsing.com which also is a proxy directory by purchasing directory submissions, social bookmarkings, and in the advertising and directory solicitations forums in DP. I think if you do that it'll help , also focus on some other forums which I haven't had time to do yet but when i get a chance to have it stumbled I go for it and it works great had 2 stumbles last night that brought in $1.57 today in adsense and a new proxy submission.

I have just attempted to add a site to see how it went.

I filled out the form and entered the captcha, it was wrong and the whole (OK its not a lot!) of my details were lost and I was asked to start again!

    2 suggestions:

Is it possible that you could turn down the difficulty settings on your capcha?
Can you make it so that if I enter the wrong capcha, all my details are not lost?

In all honesty, I tried it twice and gave up. Maybe this is part of the problem - there again, it could just be me who is thick!!!

I know what you mean -- I hate captchas myself. I'm nearsighted, colorblind, and night-blind. I seldom get captchas on the first try.

I've lowered the captcha string length to 2 characters and set the colors to black on white. Even you or I should be able to get that in just a couple of tries. :D

I can't make the script not lose variables, because it's a commercial script I purchased for $199. But, I will send a note to the developers!

I must be doing something right, I see myself at #7 on several Google datacenters for the term "proxy sites." :)

promoting a proxy site is easy. Mass mail kids who have a firewall on their school Pcs.

Trust me once i setup a proxy site and it was getting 500 unique / day from UK school pc lol.. kinda spread around the whole county until it was blocked by the county council lmfao.

I finally reached #4 on Google for "proxy sites."

Numbers 1, 2 and 3 are good strong competitors and I don't expect to beat them. I'm happy to be here. :)

Now I need to promote my other sites, Proxy Bucket and My Link Train -- or I need to chase new keywords.
