I would really fix the layout, get it looking more professional and less like one of millions of faceless digg clones. As for marketing, you have quite a marketable concept and I bet it would not take a lot of work to get the ball rolling (after the layout is fixed).

Do you like to visit hundrets of other sites with the same CMS and design ? Probably not. It makes websites boring if they look the same. Get new design. Seriously. And you traffic may get better.
Ok.... I agree I need a new design.. I'm already working on that.. Now lets talk about traffic... What methods would you use to get people to the site. (agreed that the a new design will make it more likely they will stay or return to the site.)...
I didnt really get what the site is about? Cameltoe? You realise people on the net decide fast and often.... So first impressions count... If you want to keep them there you better do something about that..
I've seen a website similar to yours, at least with the same idea. I think it was called confession on a postcard or something like this. They even talked about it on TV. Want to aim high?? Try to get a real big crimininal to confess to a crime, get some press release and you're sorted...
I was waiting to get a few more submissions so I could cut the number shown on the front page... I emailed the few users we have and now have enough that the video award camel toe pics are no longer on the front page... (had to drop it so that only 5 are shown on the front page.) I'll be re working the design over the next few weeks... Before my first semester starts... (not in college, I'll be teaching..)...

Yeah... I'm looking into putting code that figures out the correct hight/width so that I can set limits.. that auto resize the file... I have the code on my other sites ... I just need find it and make it work with this. ... I'm trying to make it look less and less digg/pligg like... (I'm working on a complete redesign but it will take a bit.)
I think you mean this one http://postsecret.blogspot.com/ the format is nothing fancy - it's a blogspot for heavens sake! it's the contributions and the work that goes into the postcards, and what they confess that makes it interesting. If you can crack that - making the contributors interesting, you'll have a hit, otherwise, you're just repeating an existing idea.
The concept is nice but I agree with everyone that you need to work on the design. I came across this: www.mysecret.tv Get the design right, then do some marketing to get the word out. It shouldn't be too hard - you already have a good idea.
