How would you market and promote a website hosting company?

Hello Digital Point Forums members, friends and associates.

My name is Mike and I am the proud owner of Corporate Internet Solutions.

We offer website hosting and have affordable prices, fast servers, and we do not over sell.

All of our website hosting packages come with a free domain name and I have an I-Trader of 10+.

But... We are not receiving many sales or visits to our company website:
    http://www.rsdarkness.com/

I am looking for suggestions on how I could market my website hosting company better or promote it so that our services can be provided to others.

We have a website hosting review:
    http://hostjury.com/reviews/corporate+internet+solutions/

Which has been done by one of our clients.
Happy to see someone is grateful and helps us grow...

What ideas do you all have or thoughts to help promote the website.
It is a Page Rank Three and an easy to use design.

    All the best,
    ~ Mike

    Hello,
A good way is start doing articles about how to build a website, how to code in html, for beginner people, of course when you finish your article add your website, there are many ways, it's an idea, but the intenet make money it not double click, it takes time, but do not worry, go ahead with your project :)

    My 2 cents,
    Jakomo

I have had the hosting company for over a year now. Everything is well and we have stayed stable and intend to stay stable...

I shall take into thoughts what your suggestions are and take a look into things.

    Thanks,
    ~ Mike

    PS. Still looking for opinions.

    Hello,
Glad to hear that you have taken the step out and decided to start up on your own. I personaly run a web development company and I ran into the same type of issues that you have now.

I have found that alot of forum posting, blog commenting, social media, and article submissions have really started to increase our traffic. Usually google analytics I mark our progress and increase in traffic daily, and each day is usually always a 200% increase.

This is some ways I would suggest you start, and after a while you will start to see a huge difference and demand in your site.

To be 100% truthful with everyone here. I resell for a company known as LiquidNet.

I am not completely sure how they turn up on review websites, but i also host with my reseller, so i know its affordable and 100% reliable compared to many other website hosting companies.

    I have made offers here:
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=10153793

and been posting here and there and everywhere really to help promote my website via Signature Links, Blogs and everything else really.

I think what I need is some good word of mouth advertising... (Any help is appreciated!)

    Merry Xmas,
    ~ Mike

That is a good point and I shall consider giving out some free website hosting accounts in exchange for reviews/promotion.

It is a good idea, and I shall take it into account.

    Merry Xmas,

A good and brutal two words, my fellow member. There are many types of advertising and this is what I have created this discussion for.

    Thank you for your comments.

I am looking for the view, facts and opinions from my fellow members and would like to have my affordable web host known better.

    All the best,
    ~ Mike

The best way to look at it is from your own perspective. If you were looking for hosting and came across your website would you buy hosting from yourself based on the offers made? I think if you make a killer promo and a nice landing page along with incentives like coupon codes you might increase sales. Also a good way to get cheap advertising is through a site called projectwonderful. Good luck and always be creative.

    Peace,
    MW

    Moonwalker,

Thank you very much for your comments. I have created a landing page, which can be seen at:
    http://www.cis-webhosting.com/

This is there until I get the new design created on that website address.

I have created a special Christmas Website Hosting Promotion which lasts until April 2009.

    All the best,
    ~ Mike

tried to regist in several web hosting forums and participate there. after some time you can start offering your services and hosting packages. dont offer it right at the beginner it will make you look like scammer.

    Very good point.

I now have a I-Trader 10 here at Digital Point and I a member of many website hosting, website design and web master related forums. (Google Search "ms2134") and you can find everything that I have done on-line.

I have created various offers and hope that people visit the website. To at least consider.

When we get more clients, the word of mouth option shall become easier I hope; as I shall offer free renewals for those who help get our company known.

1.) Start giving away free scripts. I don't mean offering them as part of your hosting packages. You have to actually make them available for download and market them in forums, script directories etc. Don't forget, free scripts are easy to market so this really isn't something that will take up hours and hours of your day. You can then market your hosting service along side the scripts you are giving away. Everyone loves free scripts and the word of mouth will give your hosting company some good exposure. People are going to need to host their new sites running your scripts. Last note: Start with simple scripts that won't require a lot of updating and support. (even a simple free joke script can bring new customers to your hosting company)

2.) Become the experts in one sepcific niche. For example, AptHost.com specializes in hosting video sites by offering ffmpeg etc. which is required to run many of the video scripts being sold online. This is what makes them different and has allowed them to prosper. What makes you different? Who's your target market? Good service is not enough - every company offers "Great Service". Don't be a "Me Too" company. Find something that makes you different and use that to market your brand.

3.) If you have the money, you should start an affiliate program. There are many script developers online that do not offer hosting. Give them a good incentive to recommend your hosting company to their customers. (If you're working on a budget, you can simply make the affiliate program an invite only program. Only work with a small handfull of sites/developers)

I would prefer starting a forum related to hosting and then drive people from forum to the hosting site.

Hmm, a website hosting forum would be a good thing for me to setup.

I could have an advertising banner leading back to my website, and also offer free hosting as a prize for active posters, who post's go above 500 and are not just spammed posts.

In order to keep the package, they will need to stay an active member of the forum; until they renew it them self the following year.
