    If you have an online gift shop, how would you market it?

    The site is fairly new. Only been online for a month. These are the things that had been done so far.

    * Adwords Advertisements
    * Used appropriate Keywords on website for SEO optimisation
    * Commented on some relevant blog sites
    * Requested DMOZ Listing - still waiting for approval (fingers crossed)
    * Affiliate Marketing requires you'd been up and running for at least 3 months
    * Emailed some potential clients
    * Joined a Forum
    * Twitter
    * Facebook

    Any other ways? Would appreciate brilliant suggestions from you.

    You could start a blog and post about your products, site, etc.

    I've not mentioned it but the e-commerce site has a built in news/blog section. It would have been nice if it's wordpress but its not.

    The only thing that I would do, which I do with my sites, and the only thing that actually works, is to advertise it.

    I would put pictures of some of the gifts in ads and place them in sites I think its visitors may click on.

    A lot of people buy for themselves, so don't forget about that angle.

    One ad line could: Having a Bad Week? Buy Yourself Something

    Submit your products to some shopping sites like Google and Yahoo.

    Get some PR. Find something about your site that addresses a concern in the news today and propose some sort of solution. Then package that solution as a pitch that the media will want to carry. I read an interesting quote the other day that said something like 90% of our news is generated by business motivations (something like that). Either way, PR is the way to go.
