Hey every one, So I am launching my new site in a few days. It will be a search engine that compares selected shopping sites. You can see a snap-shot of what it will be at: ShopperGeek.com/demo - - - - I am primarily targeting individuals who already shop at one or more those sites, and providing them an easy way to compare the sites they already shop at. So I am not converting browsers to buyers, I am targeting people who are going to buy from one of those, but want to compare prices first. I am already monetizing it through affiliate commissions from those 5 sites, but that wont be much in the beginning. What other ways, in addition to the affiliate sales commissions, would you use to make money from such a site? I look forward to hearing you suggestions. With Regards, Omar Khan
I think you should try several ways to monetize your site. There is a lot of difference way to make money of a site, and what works best differs from site to site.
You can sell advertisements to companies selling similar (but not identical) products. As traffic grows, that would be more appealing to advertisers. You could also find smaller less--known stores (i.e. not the amazons of the world) and offer to add them into your comparison engine for a fee...
