By putting money in a savings account you would make barely enough to live off at $50,000 - $2,500 a year if you're lucky, after tax. In a current account, you will actually lose money year on year because interest rates are usually wholly offset by inflation and tax on the interest earned. IMO it's better to invest your money in starting a business of some kind. It's not enough to build a serious investment portfolio but is enough to give a good head start in launching a business - either online or offline.
Put 30k as down payment on a house in developing areas. Find someone to rent it. Other 20k as backup. Sell the house in 5 years when it's price is doubled.
50000$ is a huge thing and for business it is like a good basket of resources... So as a saying goes "Don't put all your eggs in the same basket" So if this is all u have then dont invest all in internet business, & If u have allocated the whole money to use only in Internet Business then GOOD... Diversify the money into the categories which U think r like cash cow's depending on your risk taking styles... also buy some revenue generating sites at good deals in forums and start some sites and spend on content and promotion activities etc.., lastly take the revenue to home investing in other investment opportunities..
Ha. When I see things like these my mind goes to the one type of site I know how to make money off of. Proxies! Now I am being ridiculous but just think here for a moment. Lets say you take $10k. You would be able to buy 1000 sites (.com) at $10 each and turn them into proxies. If lets say you are going for .info then you could buy 3333 sites. However for this rant I will say you are buying .coms for $10 each. Now you will need hosting so lets be generous and put away $2k/year. Now you have 800 sites. Then we take away $3k to pay someone to setup and advertise and get(maybe hire someone to make for you) templates for the proxies(fully setting up a proxy can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 hour depending on the complexity of the templates). Now you have 500 proxies. Now the person who you paid $3k to do everything will use $3k to advertise the sites. Now you have 200 proxies at $2k for all of them. Each site gets a generous $15 each for advertising. After all of this expensive advertising each site starts to earn at least $1/day. That is $365/year/proxy if we set this to every proxy that is 73000 per year. Pretty nifty right =) Also You can setup a feedburner newsletter system on every single proxy and I estimate you will get about 40 from each site at least. This is 8000 people who want more proxies. So what will you use this for? You will use it to keep making new proxies. Now imagine if you had used all $50k on this. That would be(under this theoretical system) 1000 proxies each earning $1/day to a total of 365000 per year. Now imagine if you used $50k to buy .infos instead. You would have 3333 sites with a total of $1.2 million a year. wow am I proxy crazy right now. Can you believe I just spent about 10 minutes coming up with all that! P.S. If you do this then I can be your $3k per 200 proxies guy =)
Well, I don't need the money. I have sites and I am going to do more sites. I need people to help me make them winners. Are there any more forums like http://www.cambrianhouse.com/
