If I were to do SEO for an Joomla CMS site.. http://www.kahnconsultinginc.com
Would they have to be treated differently from any other site?

Make sure you use Joomla SEF as well. Having clean url's is so important.

i think no... if you are implementing offpage seo and other seo techniques to optimize the site as its only a CMS

and if you are looking for on page seo there is not much scope as it comes with optimization only... you only have to install some plugins and you are ready to go you can find the plugins at: extensions.joomla.org

    hope it helps....

Wordpress is easier in SEO compared to Joomla.

That's not necessarily true, harsha22. Most of the "SEO" comes from the theme you choose (or write), not the system being used.
