How would someone know if a pagerank on a site is fake?

    Just want to know if there's such thing as fake PR? How would someone know if a website's Google pagerank is fake?

    i think there are some tools for that, but i usually use two PR checker to make sure its legit..

    haven't seen any fake pageranks yet... please post some url if you have come across such an instance!

    No, there is nothing like fake PR... Sometimes you cannot see the real PR because of bug in the tool, but, that is not a deliberate attempt.

    Most of the websites have high PR for their homepage and inner pages have low or PR0. So, conclusion is, Websites do not have fake PR but every web-page has different PR which is sometimes used for trapping webmasters for link exchange deals or domain trade.

    make a manual search in Google "info:yourdomain.com" and see whether the result shows exactly the same as the original URL.
    If not, then the PR is fake or forged.

    Check info:domain.com in google. If the cached domain is a different URL its fake PR.
