How would I go about marketing...

Okay so I have finished making a brand new site. It is a community forum for Brown People. No specific race, just brown people. I thought it was clever as there are no other existing sites (others that claim to be are only for a certain race, eg. Latin)
I have NO idea where to market it though. There are not many similar websites, and if there are I can hardly just spam their forums.
Any ideas what I should do? How I can get it across?

I have already started a competition to attract visitors, but again I need to know where to market this as well.

I am very stuck on marketing methods. Can anyone help??

PS. I don't want to advertise, so I have put the link in my signature. Thanks.

The first thing that comes to mind is some kind of talk show. Film the videos and post them on video hosting sites such as - Veoh, Vimeo, Break, Yahoo Video, Dailymotion, Metacafe and youtube - just to name a few.

Maybe do interviews with people that are "brown", maybe discuss how other Brown people have become successful, gone to college and become lawyers, doctors or engineers. This could be an inspiration to the younger generations of "Brown" people.

    Hi

I think you should consider using article marketing & press release to attract more visitors to your website. You don't have to advertise if you don't want to. You just need more publicity and exposure :)

    LOL...I think that's a pretty clever idea.

Why don't you try a free press release service? You could create a quick, catchy press release and submit it. You'd definitely get traffic. And who knows? From there someone could think it's pretty funny and digg it, forward it a friend, etc.

You need to seed the forum with some posts. The topic is def wide enough that you can cover stacks of topics. Post up a storm yourself, get friends to post and talk to yourself if needed.

Good luck with it, I like the concept.

Interesting start, I would recommend continuing with your forum posts and then to submit to directories, social bookmarking sites, press releases, write a blog, blog commenting, and really you should not have any problems if you contacted webmasters that had sites related to racial issues. You really should try any black history or other type of site because I am sure they would be very interested in your site.

Try to develop community - go to social services and create some groups with site-brand-name

Problem is there is no similar forums
As discussed above spamming is illegal, and I don't know who (in specific, not as a target audience) is interested in the forum (let alone their email addresses) or I wouldn't have this problem!

My suggestion would be social marketing.Your site is about brown people and social sites can help you to reach not the just the brown people but anyone around the globe.

You can advertise through other social networks... It's pretty easy, list your link and add a bunch of friends.
If your site is good ... people will join :D

I think a real Social Networking strategy would be the key. Along with all other traffic/link building methods (article publishing, press releases, social bookmarking...)

As I've read about your post. It seems that you need to have an interviews from a brown people and asking the main question as to how they are very successful. And post it in a video hosting websites.
