how would i advertise a site like digg

    i am programming a site like digg.. with video submission capabilities...

    when i go to advertise this could i get a following from twitter and myspace and other blog sites.... which company's should i pay besides google adwords.. after i have been up for awhile i will be doing video contest similar to what dailymotion does sometimes

    budget is only $2500

    You can do basic SEO, and get some quick backlinks.

    Here's what I recommend:

    1) Social media bookmarking
    2) Get as much backlinks as possible
    3) Article submission
    4) Search engine indexing

    With a social bookmarking site it would be more about brand recognition and being remarkable (as Seth Godin would say)....try to do some "outside the box" marketing, and offer something different that other social bookmarking sites don't have. I think its mostly about being innovative...advertising on other social bookmarking sites and doing article submission simply won't cut it here.

    Get a good following on twitter, enter the story onto social media site, get your followers to boost the story and then more people will find it
    Purchase links on high PR sites to get good PR and advertise using adwords, and others

    It is always better to opt for SEO services to get good amount of back links. As some one in the forum specified bookmarking, articles, press release would drive traffic to your site. Book marking would get you instant traffic, but the links which you obtain from it are not permanent. articles and press release would give you permanent links, but delayed in traffic. There are many more tactics in SEO to get fare amount of traffic.

    Google Adwords is the best option to advertise.You have many ad networks apart from Google.Its good if you are doing on your own,but you risk losing money if PPC campaigns are not done properly.You can hire a PPC expert who can achieve your goals in much productive manner.
