How Would 2-3 Same Anchor Texts On Same Article Affect My Page Rank?

    Hi,

Just wondering if having the same anchor text showing 2, 3 or more times on ONE article? I have several articles on article directories each having up to 2-3 same anchor texts, same URL and pointing to the same website.

Will these affect my PR badly or okay?

    Thanks.

Anchor texts have nothing to do with page rank

Anchor text is used to tell search engines what your page is about. Page rank is gained by getting links from sites with higher page rank than yours.

Look it at from a visitor's point of view Ozim.

If I see three phrases repeated in an article, with all of them linking to the same site, wouldn't it look as if it was done deliberately ? Smaller keywords may go unnoticed, but if I wrote " Affiliate Marketing Training Mentoring '' three times ( linked to the same site) in a fairly small article, it is obvious that I intended to manipulate the serps. And that is playing with fire in Google's eyes.

Pagerank is based on inbound links. While your site's pagerank may not be penalized, your serps certainly will be if they suspect that you are trying to manipulate your way in.

It is one of the reasons people stress on using different anchor texts.

Always target your contents, layout, graphics etc. towards human visitors. After all search engine earn their bread and butter through the human visitors.

    I completely agree with liverpool

Yup. anchor text will not affect PR. But using over and over the same will not attact links to your site.

As long as the links provide valuable information to the reader then its ok. but as gr8liverpoolfan said, if done incorrectly it can look very spammy. and you'll only get credit for one link anyway

Anchor text with links should be used logically and appear logically. For instance, I write an article consisting of 800 words which mentions the name Martin Luther King, Jr. In that article I link the name Martin Luther King, Jr. to an article about MLK. Well it makes sense and thus will not be viewed as spam.
