I've got one site in the Yahoo directory and one in Dmoz and they have similar links and content. The one in Dmoz is much much higher in the serps
I have several sites grandfathered into the Directory from way back when. I get a trickle of traffic. So from that perspective the answer is NO. The only real benefit seems to be Google Specific SEO boosting. But you can certainly do that without Yahoo.
Google loves to see yahoos business directory as its an extra regulator for them. If your trying to index something then make sure its not porn or gambling.
I don't think 300 is worth it for the yahoo listing. One, even if you do have a better ranking in yahoo, it does not get near the traffic google does. Two, DMOZ is free and probably the best place to start before forking out 300 with no guarantee.
I have a commercial site that falls in and out of yahoo SERPS. It is not listed on the yahoo directory. Will it be worth it to pay the $299/annually?
i would say it's not worth it at all. For what your paying you not getting much. You can achieve all this without paying that much money.
its not the matter of money! I mean, is it worth for the money? how much page rank increase or traffic can it bring for $300 and that too per year !
Personally I don't think its worth it. I'd rather spend $300 in YSM and actually make a return on my investment.
You don't have to pay 300$ yearly for yahoo dir listing its possible with 100$ yearly too. i know someone who doing it for 100$
If i spend $300 to list my site in the directory, i have to make sure it works but right now, nobody seems to know if this one works .
