What do you think will change with google by the time we have our grand kids? Will there be another new big competitor for google or google will still rule the web by that time?

i personally feel like as of now google is here to stay; but if i try to foresee the future i see one if not many competition for google by the time our kids surf dp.

Our grandchildren will see google via a brain implant. A quote from the future:

In a move set to revolutionize the search world, Google has patented bio networking technologies popularised in the Matrix movie. Adsense publishers will soon be able to plug directly into the Google backbone through a USB dongle that will WiFi directly through to the users central nervous system. The wireless interface was chosen after rigorous testing in the Google Labs.

"We thought the idea of using a direct user input socket was a bit cumbersome. During our alpha testing we soon realised that the high bandwidth possible through a surgically implanted socket was not worth the downtime it caused our adsense publishers."

Publishers have been quick to embrace the technology with a slew of applications for the beta program. Some successful testers have risked their place in the program to speak of their experiences.

"It really is something from web 3.0 as far as I am concerned. No longer do I have to look for things to type about. Search queries are directly cross referenced with my memories. Google serves up the relevant ads and everyone is happy. The only problem so far was when they sent part of my brain to supplemental results and I lost my car keys."

It will probably be like virtual reality.
You'll just walk through Google looking for your search terms.

Or instead of like virtual reality, you will have a holographic image of a person come and query you as to what you are searching for and another hologram will come up with the search query.

Or planet Earth will be hit by a huge asteroid, and we will have to survive another Ice Age...

I bet Google didn't think of that!

maybe a virtual kind of node network. just like one of the futurama episodes when Fry goes into the future internet.
    still it would be cool!
about meteorites, thousands of years have already passed by without a real asteroid impact that could change the face of our planet. i think even if it is still a possibility, it is unlikely to happen any time soon. some scientist were saying a asteroid could enter in collition with earth in some decades but it is way too difficult to predict it so i guess it will pass by like so many other told space rock menaces announced by so many other astronomers in the past. noneless we should continue a defense preparation just in case, you never know what could happen in the future.

I just found the answer on wired magazine. It says in the future we (or our grand kids) will see Google from google enabled contact lenses.

And if you look at the product box closely, you see it is compatible on linux, mac and pc.
