Hi I'm getting two different PR for home page; Like i'm getting www.example.com as PR 4 AND www.example.com/index.aspx as PR 3 I've checked page rank by using Google PR tool How come the two different result? Waiting for reply Regards Mike
they are 2 different pages. so is http://example.com and http://example.com/index.aspx. it is best to use a 301 direct.i think there is a way on window, but i don't use windows.
To avoid this, use 301 redirection snippet(if your server space is Linux). This is the best to overcome the situation. -- Dave.
And since they are two different URLs with two different back link profile, they have been assigned different PR. Lesson to be learned - Canonical optimization. Put a permanent redirect from index.aspx to the .com version. Should sort it out.
I guess inner pages always have a 1 PR low .. so index.aspx also count as inner page .. Just my 2 cent
This is the reason why some webmasters are using redirects on their home page. It is giving them a higher pr.
