There's been a few threads on the subject of Google's new interface but nothing specifically about how it impacts SEO so I wonderd what everyone thinks aboiut this? My expectation is that over time clickthrough rate for other media like video and blogs will get higher, and clickthrough for traditional results will get lower. Obviously this places more empasis on SEO for other media types, much like when Universal search rolled out. What does everyone else think?
I do not think the new interface has anything to do with seo nor your website ranking neither but the algorithm do. However, it seems the change made by Google new interface and new algorithm come along altogether this time. That's why you and many ones here, including me, see minor change on website ranking for some website / some certain keywords.
Don't get me wrong I'm not confusing the interface with the algorithm and I'm sure there's no relation between them. Your position in natural search is decided by Google's algorithm and nothing else. The new interface does encourage people to click on other results though, which would mean a lower clickthrough for you in natural results whatever your position. Personally I'll be advising people to push their blogs and videso more as these should be getting a higher clickthrough rate now. I'm sure the new options have other implications for getting the best from search? that's what I'm thinking about, how we can use this new layout to our advantage?
The Google's new interface will not affect its working algorithm in any way. I personally like the older version as the new style may need some configurations and adjustments. Anyway, the good old SEO rules still apply over here, no matter what templates Google is using.
i too agree, Google's new interface won't affect SEO in any manner. It can enrich user experience as always Google loves to do...
Yes, although Google have shown a whole new interface to us, it I do not mean that the new interface will impace SEO. In my eyes, it has anything to do with the ranking of our sites.
I don't think the CTR will vary much for Google. They are already so much popular that people go for their other products searching with their brand name.
I think that indeed users now have more options to search for in an easier manner so they will begin to search for more media types more often which means regular sites will have decreasing organic google traffic; its just a shift in search parameters, not so much SEO
In my own experiences, it would affect the traditional SERP but we might try to optimize our sites for Google news engine, update engine, image engine and other engines since they are all on the left hand side. Thanks,
I think it might have an impact on local SEO. The Google's local SEO is going to become even more important. Local results have started pushing normal web results way down the screen. There are fewer local results shown - so more traffic for the top few if you can get in them. Each local result has more prominence than it used to, taking up more space on the screen. Having a long address is important as you get an extra line if it's long enough!
I don't think the front end interface affects the back-end search technology from an SEO perspective, but ya never know...
Who ever knows with Google. Those guys keep their secrets looked up tighter then any government does.
