I removed that hate link. Whew!!! Never knew that it was a KKK site. But at a time when technology is advancing , it's disheartening to see that some people really never have grown up. Regards, Dilip Samuel
.... Things taken out of context can always be twisted. That's the problem with people, they tend to pull pieces of Scirpture out of the bible and apply their own meanings to them, ignoring the original context of the passage (which would give them an understanding of the actual meaning of said passage). I'm not pointing fingers at you specifically, I'm talking in general.
I always use the facts and take the quote of Bible literally and not substitute my own interpretation of what I like it to mean. Let's look at the quote again and understand it according to English language. Revelation 2:9: "I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan." blas·phe·my 1- A contemptuous or profane act, utterance, or writing concerning God or a sacred entity. The act of claiming for oneself the attributes and rights of God. 2- An irreverent or impious act, attitude, or utterance in regard to something considered inviolable or sacrosanct. Dictionary.com I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. Who commits blasphemy but saying that they are Jews? Who are these people that say they are Jews but are not? What people are in the synagogue of Satan? It is very clear that Jesus considered himself and follower of his church the true Jews and the others (traditional Jews) the worshipers in the synagogue of Satan. "No man ever believes that the Bible means what it says; he is always convinced that it says what he means." (George Bernard Shaw / 1856-1950) As mentioned before, I think all religion are equally stupid when applied to present day situation.
That is your own interpretation. Jesus was against the pharisees (jews who were spiritual leaders) who where distorting the Torah and adding many of their own laws and expecting people to keep laws that they themselves could not keep. You really ought to read the whole Bible before you come to conclusions.
Wait-you mean people go crazy about their religion ? lol good thing I've outgrown religion but do respect others who believe in them, except those zealots types who go 'round and 'round killing people in the name of whatever religion they have thinking that their god(s) would forgive them.
Debunk since you have read the Bible, can you give me a quote that limit the above quote to such a narrow definition? Can you try to answer my 3 questions in my posting but according to the rules of English language ( no adding of your own text and words in the quote)? When you mention the whole Bible, does that include the old testament too or do you mean only new testament when referring to Bible?
Sorry I can't help you learn english.... Could you get someone to interpret into english, the first 2 sentences make very little sense. Whole Bible Old and New Testaments. Old tells of Christ's coming and about the creation of the world, God's chosen people, the mistakes of his chosen, the forgiveness and judgements of God, and in the New Testament Jesus offers forgiveness of sins through His sacrafice. But if you read the whole thing you might understand some of what I wrote.
While I'm unfortunately myself guilty of posting a couple of links above (before I had familiarized myself with the mother thread ), could I prevail on cooler heads to try keep this thread from becoming a rehash of that ugly fistfight For anyone that genuinely enjoys that sort of debate, or really thinks they can convince anyone else, there are, after all, lots of more appropriate forums on the net (for instance, sciforums.com). It's not like it hasn't all been heard before... (Seems like a good way to increase the post count, though )
Where in Bible says that he meant only Jews spiritual leaders in that quote that I mentioned? I posted 3 question in my previous post, answer it according to Bible quote. Don't add your own words to the the quote in Bible. I thought you didn't believe in Old Testament.
You are right Rob, I don't think this people have ever read the Bible, let alone other religious books. No point to argue with fanatics that make up their belief as they go along. I have stated my case and I think it is very obvious for any one that can read the Bible and understand it literally. I won't post in this thread any more.
*blinks* Uh, all that passage is saying is that the church of Smyrna must be careful of the slander/blasphemies of those who claim to be Jews but aren't. >>Who commits blasphemy but [by? - Relixx] saying that they are Jews? Those who say they are but aren't (Don't forget that the Jews are God's chosen people, thus anyone saying that they are a Jew but aren't are in fact trying to usurp God's authority, simply because God calls the shots as to who is a member of his chosen people and who isn't). >>Who are these people that say they are Jews but are not? Doesn't matter really, can be any non-Jew, the important bit is that they say they are Jews but aren't, and speaking slanderous/blasphemous things while doing so. >>What people are in the synagogue of Satan? All those opposed to God (if you're not for him, you're against him, etc). >>It is very clear that Jesus considered himself and follower of his church the true Jews and the others (traditional Jews) the worshipers in the synagogue of Satan. No, it's clear that your exegesis is slightly faulty. Jesus didn't consider him and his followers 'True Jews' because to be Jewish you have to meet certain criteria, eg circumcision, and follow the Law (amongst other things). If Jesus did consider himself and his followers the true Jewish faith, they would DEFINITELY have followed Jewish Law in it's original form (ie, not like the Pharisees, who made up new Laws) and the New Testament would be filled with commandments for Christ's followers to follow the Jewish Law. However, Jesus's followers are not required to follow Jewish Law because they are not under it, because Jesus claimed to be the fulfilment of the Law (and thus making it null and void) That's the last post I'll make in this thread. If you want to continue this discussion, PM me. <edit>lol, knew this would happen, some anonymous coward gave me a red dot for this. Ag, shame</edit>
