Totally useless. The PR is divided amongst the 1000 pages and the PR has probably been nuked as well.

It sounds like a link farm,I think it's useless and it would be a bit costly ,eh?

I wander where did you find such a PR9 web site?:) Are you sure the PR is real?

Waste of time - too many links, probably off topic and probably not passing PR anyway.

I think he meant something like w3.org sponsors page, it is PR9 with a lot of inbound links

i actually agree and in the same time disagree - true that you have a PR9 page with 1000 links, when of them is directing to your site - remmeber, its a pr9! after that comes pr10. the link, in my opnion will help you a lot. other wise - prove me wrong! and does a PR split throw the links?? never heard of that one :)

Due to the exponential behavior of the PR scale, one link amongst 1000 on a PR9 is probably equivalent to 1 unique link on a PR6 (or maybe 7, but unlikely) page.

Maybe thats true in theory but there is no way that Google will allow a page with 1000 links to pass PR. They stated that w3c would not pass PR from their PR9 page.

The page in question is not the W3C sponsors page;) (which doesnt pass PR because of no-follow bits and bobs....) - thanks for all the responses...it's a good forum this one!

Hope you all have a happy 2007!:)

As said above, it's pretty useless, assuming we are talking about 1000 external links.
