I have over the years submitted to thousand of directories, and I don't regret it one bit. I subscribe to the theory: "A link is a link." Its individual value may be infinitesimally small, but in the aggregate, those directory links do help. Traffic-wise — I get less than 1% of my traffic from directories, even after submitting to thousands of them. If your only reason for submitting to directories is traffic, don't bother.
Actually i think that is just kind of satisfaction sometime to have directory submission for a particular website. I have done it to two of my website but not get any in link yet.
Directories are really useful for seo as they provide credibility and trust in eyes of Search Engines and users. also a great source of back links for web sites. Learning tips online Thanks
Except for a few useful good directories, I don't see the point anymore. I've stop doing directories registration but I might be wrong.
directories paly important role to increasing the ranking of any website.but directories should be with high PR. and details should be submitted to relevant category. you can find some list of directories here: directoryroll.com
@seoasia: Self advertising in another ones thread doesn't look so good on your part. As for the directories and the usefulness of them, It just depends on the owner and the quality of the directory. I am extremely picky about where I submit and the services of a company submitting them for me (saves time). I submit to maybe 2-3 directories a day manually and do find the quality ones that have been around for awhile to be the most useful resources on the web.
I never submit my site to directories hoping for actual traffic. I do it with the intention of telling the search engine what type of site I'm submitting. They're helpful for quick easy link and getting indexed.
Ya you can get very less traffic from directories but you get back link from directory that back link is very useful to increase our site pr.
