there are other factors to consider such as landing pages, quality scores and best conversion times to run your ads according to your analytic's program tracking your conversions.

Run A/B split tests, and keep working on fine tuning your ad.

Online advertisers have a big advantage over offline media like magazines, TV, billboards etc, in that you can track your results and get almost intantaneous feedback on what is converting well and what is not. Use that to your advantage.

    Some things to test:

    Capitalizing words vs. not
Different URLs for your landing page
    Dynamic Keywords in title
Mentioning price in ad vs. not
    Negative qualifiers

    and many more.

fine for testing but can't say that one should have different landing url's

we should stick to the best combination of landing page and product description,be short and clear. don't thign capitalizing words is a good excersice better check out.

    PM me for details.

DonnaReed has got it right. Copy test. Refine your ads. Then copy test again.

Copy again what donna says. Test. You don't need to be a marketing wiz when you can test two things to find out for sure after the fact which one performs better, delete the poor performer then start testing two new ads - and keep at it until you find one that really works.

    Here's my formula:
    - title, parrot back the search. if they searched on 'berkenstock shoes in Alabama', then don't serve a generic title of 'berkenstock shoes'. Serve an ad title of 'AL Berkenstock retailers' or something. Personally I found dynamic titles work well when the user did very specific search terms, but poorly when they did a more generic search.
    - line 1, qualify the traffic. Make sure they know what they're getting. If you're selling berkenstocks, say so. Get rid of the people looking for information only (if that's what you're doing anyway). 'Buy shoes online' or something like that.
    - line 2. Call to action. Click Here! You know you waaaant to! Well, you can't do it that aggressively, but something like 'Shop online here' type of thing. Reinforce that they have to take action and do something.

Coincidentally, I wrote a long long post on successful PPC campaigns on a niche forum, here's the thread (long, but relatively detailed):

Positive words tend to convert better than negative words.

I've recently tested two indentical ads except that the one had Capitalized Words and another one was straight. After two weeks testing I've got very clear results:
    Capitalized Ad = CTR 1.40%
    Straight ad = CTR 5.80%

It didn't surprise me though, it is quite logical that normal way of writing is the way to go. Of course, I am aware that in *some* cases that is not necesserily true.

So, my advice is to test your ads and soon you'll get better picture how to act.

for "adult" type offerings on yahoo & even though i am getting a huge CTR i am getting hardly any conversions.

yet, i am running 2 beauty/retail related campaigns in yahoo & the clicks to converts are bigger.

is google where i should be running my "adult" type offerings? do more guys shop with google than with yahoo?

im a big fan of making each keyword its own adgroup. One ad per keyword, each ad shows the potential customer exactly what they're searching for.

I can't get any feedback re: posts on adult tyype merchandise ads I am running in yahoo. I am getting some decent click action but they are not turning into sales? any thoughts on whether an adult type product offering would be better served running ads in google then?

For what it's worth, I don't think Google allows adult-related content in their advertising.
