My CTR for my Google Adwords are really abysmal. I get plenty of page impressions, but no clicks. I have looked closely at relevancy of my keywords, and I don't think that is the problem. I think my problem is writing the ad itself, making someone want to click. I found the following examples on the web: A Poor Adwords ad: Blank DVDs for Sale We have really good DVDs for sale. We stock a lot of brands. Lots to choose from. www.dvdsales.com Versus this "Good" Adwords ad: Hot, Sexy Blank DVDs Coolest DVDs on The Planet! Cheap Prices. Free Shipping. Visit now. CoolestDVDs4Sale.mydvd.com I have hunted and hunted for information on good copywriting for Adwords, and only come up with copywriting generalizations about getting in the prospect's head, making an emotion-based appeal, a call to action, and using power words. I am trying, and I am really stuck. Can anyone recommend any information on the web, free or to buy, that teaches good copywriting for Adwords? Thank you
You might want to read the mindValley blog. An inspiring blog about various adwords creatives with great examples http://blog.mindvalleylabs.com/ hope this helps
BTW, I really like the following format: title: explain what your product is (or use a dynamic title according to the actual search) description line 1: express your benefits over your competitors description line 2: call to action. get people to visit your site NOW
yeah, definitely read these Mindvalley guys. Obviously, they're trying to sell stuff, just like anybody else, but at least they're the real thing. Tossing some kind of numbers into the copy always catches attention. "Was $45.34, Now Reduced to $4.12", and "limited time." Really, a lot of those cheesy copywriting generalizations do work, and do apply to AdWords.
2% is not bad...... But I think if you try a tiny bit harder then something just under about 5% is achievable without a poo-load of effort.
There's a great report on it out there called "Copy 101" that I've made available (for free, of course) on my server here - it has tons of helpful info and advice on copywriting and tips to increase CTR. I agree with flip that a lot of cheesy conventions work - hype it up, but don't over hype, etc etc... Numbers are great... also, a chopped/slashed Ad copy (ALA, Day Job Killer techniques) can also be very profitable depending on how targeted your ad copy is. -T
Telmari- Thank you- the report was incredibly helpful. Whew- thanks for sharing- this expalians alot and even though my market is different- I am starting to see the big picture.
