I am working on putting together my Unique Value Proposition (UVP). I'm sure most of you are familiar with a UVP but I read that next to experienced business owners most business fail because they do not have a clearly defined UVP. I would be interested in reading other people's UVPs so please post them here, perhaps we can all critique each others. My UVP is: "LBV helps businesses profit by delivering the highest quality leads available anywhere online. The unique service is free and uses video infomercials instead of limiting text ads to educate prospects about the businesses products. This ensures increased sales with minimum customer enquiries." please provide constructive feedback as it is not set in concrete yet. In my research I noted that: - Your UVP has to be what you DO and ARE. It can't be just what you SAY or WANT. - Refine your UVP until you can articulate it in one sentence. - A UVP is not usually determined, it is discovered. I have put together 4 steps on "how to write a unique value proposition" to help anyone interested STEP 1 Identify your customer? - What do they need? - What do they want? - What don't they want? STEP 2 Work out what your products benefit is and map the top benefits to your customers. - Service - Price - Quality - Uniqueness - Revenue generation - Cost reduction - Compliance with regulations - Fulfilling a desire - Better way of doing things - Proximity to customers - Adherence to standards Step 3 Who is your target market? - Location - Industry - Products - Customer Profile Step 4 Know your competitors and clearly differentiate your top customer aligned benefits from your competitor's benefits. - Know precisely what your competitors are offering - Understand what it is about your competitors that your prospects like I look forward to reading your UVP
The people who don't belong in business aside, the rest fail because: 1. They lack specificity in what they're doing. This goes up and down the ladder, business plan, marketing plan, etc. 2. They are not listening to the market. The company/person is producing goods and services just because they can rather than producing something that the market wants. 3. Timing / Luck. Yep. Sometimes you do everything right, but it's just not the right time or "luck" passed you over. 4. Education. I'd say this should be #1, since the first two on my list are usually a direct result of the lack of solid education. This education comes in many forms--college, books, magazines, shows, experience, etc.
ok so we know people fail in business. Since there has been 50 views and zero posts specifying their UVP I am feeling sceptical as to whether DP members even have UVPs?
