Hey everyone, I have spent the last couple of days trying to figure out how I can make the "leave a comment" or (comments x) links on my custom wordpress theme nofollow? I managed to add nofollow to the "read more" links, but was unable to find the file in which wp calls this particular comment link? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
In wordpress automatically the comment links get nofollows. I think or you can search a plugin if it's not getting nofollow.
@webdesigners, I think you misunderstood what I am trying to do. I am not trying to get the links within comments nofollow, those already are. I am trying to get the actual links that say "leave a comment" or something similar on each excerpt on the front page and in the archive pages to be nofollowed. They cause a duplicate content problem within wordpress, because you have two different links going to the same page, for instance mysite.com/worlds-greatest-blog-article/ mysite.com/worlds-greatest-blog-article/#comments Does that make sense?
I believe that duplicate content is only a problem when you have multiple pages with the same content. I don't think it matters if there is more than one link to the content. Search the Google forums here, I bet this has been covered many times.
You are right. it is not a problem to have links with "extra"-things like #comments, or smt like that. But i would say it is ok to 'nofollow' those links. You have a link in the title of the post, with a good anchor (the title), and another one with anchor 'Leave a comment'. Lets imagine we have only this two links on home page. Entire 'link-juice' goes to the right page, but half with the an incorrect anchor - "Leave a comment" . I don't think you want to optimize a page for this kw (Leave a comment), instead the title of the post. If you place a nofollow on "leave a comment" - link, will be better for your seo. It is just a simple example. You can "nofollow" many other links which aren't important for SEO (contact page, log in page, ToS, Privacy policy, and so on).
If your still looking for the wordpress plugin for following you can try this: www. kimmo.suominen.com/sw/dofollow/
