How to word an email to my old users?

    I have a list of about 1000 users that haven’t used our service, (blog hosting website), for some time, (6 months to a year).
    So I was going to write them an email inviting them to comeback to the site and use our service once again.

    It will be a once off email and I would prefer not to use HTML.
    I can write a script with personal details for each user.

    How would you word the email?

    Be honest.

    Tell them you are updating your database and then explain the new features on the site since the last visit with links to the features.
