Ok this post probably goes against everything in this section, but basically I have a domain that I got for free - it expires in 6-8 months and so I have no intention of ever marketing it or branding it, or getting it any PR or renewing it. My question is what could I productively do with it - I'm thinking perhaps using it maybe as a disposable email service, that way whatever spam comes to it doesn't really matter as it's as good as junk after it expires (at least to me). Or perhaps use it for newsletter campaigns. I'm sure the DP community can give me some possible uses of it - just remember that at the end I don't intend on it having any actual value. Maybe I'll try to test out some blackhat stuff on it to see what I can get away with it.
i had the same issues with 3 domains ( no idea what i was thinking) i just cancelled them because they where getting in the way.
The best thing would be to sell it or to put up wordpress. Add bunch of PLR articles, submit a few back links and sell it, I see people paying $100 plus for those. It is quick money since you can get emails for nothing anywhere now.
make a blog, fill it with all affiliate programs, also some publishing networks which will allow it and promote it on very cheap advertising ptc sites, traffic exchanges, etc. wont get rich, but you will make some income off it if its good
not a bad idea, except that it's a domain given for free - I unfortunately don't have full control with the registrar, I've got DNS/MX access but that's about it - so wouldn't be able to push it elsewhere. that's a good idea, could test out some crappier ad networks with it (cheap ads + cheap traffic).
it's a free domain - registrar is not in my control, if I want to renew it the price of the domain isn't worth paying with that registrar. I got the domain for free, never used it - but now just want to do something productive with it that won't really add to its value. Two things that seem great: 1) Use it to test out black hat methods, see what really is true and how long till Google/MSN/Yahoo actually take action against them. Purely for knowledge, and interest. 2) Build it up with some link exchanges, slap some 3rd rate ads on it - possibly zango, popup ads, etc.
lol guys (and gals), I can't sell it unless you're looking to buy only dns control over it lol. A friend of mine suggested using it for unsolicited email marketing but that's something I probably would never get involved with.
If you don't have compete control of the domain I can't see how you can benefit. Essentially you have use of the domain and that about it.
