Good post. I think Linkbaiting is kind of like art. That's why most people don't make substantial traffic from this method. Do X and you get Y does not apply here. But yes, you are right, it can potentially drive enormous amounts of traffic to your site. Imagine your story, tool hitting Digg etc.
