    Some pages on social networking websites get indexed by search engines (for example MySpace profiles, StumbleUpon profiles) - any links you put on these pages count as backlinks and may pass PageRank and/or help your site rank higher.

    Yes, all social bookmarking sites give backlinks to the site...

    Just join them and post on them..

    Social networks do help your SEO efforts, here is a thread I started for del.icio.us votes exchange . You will have to tag 10 links and people after you will tag your link also as long as you are on the list .

    i think there are two criterias

    * check nofollow
    * dont spam the social bookmark site. you may be banned

    all links from delicious and most of the other social bookmarking sites have nofollow on them so no pagerank is passed
