    Just install Google Analytics Dashboard for WP - It is very easy to use it.

    Install Google Analytics plugin within WP Admin. Go to plugins and search for "Google Analytics" and install the plugin named "Google Analytics"

    Now, go to your Google Analytics dashboard and create an account if you have no already done so. And, copy the tracking id(example UA-XXXXXXXX-X)

    Now, go back to WP Admin and paste the tracking ID in the field for the Google Analytics plugin. All Done!

    After this, you should learn about adding views, etc.. to make your tracking more efficient.

    Is this method only for wordpress.org sites?

    I'm not seeing where it's possible to install Google Analytics in wordpress.com sites.

    you have to either go inside the theme editor and place the code inside the header part of you have to go inside the widgets and add a html javascript widget with the analytics code, if you are new to programming or web designing take help from an expert, place the code in the header section.
