Benefits..more money? You basically allow your visitors to search from Google and your website. It's good to use it if you place it on a high traffic website with lots of visitors. By lots I mean more than a few thousands, or earnings will probably be close to nothing.

You will get the three types of code when you go to google search . That means one code is a) Google Search b) Where your search results to be display in your site or in the other page . Very simple you need a email account from where you will apply for Google adsense program. After approval you will get Good adsense program.
i get around 250 uniques daily to one of my sites and the search box does well its used at least ten times but usually only 1 click but the click is a surprise you roughly know what you keyword worth after a few ads have been clicked and you see what you earn but thye could type anything in to the box so you never know how much to expect from a click
