Target your ads well. Don't start with music & movies web sites, don't try money making web sites. Try a very specific niche that has no competition. Create a landing page and optimize it. Split ads, test, track.

Basically, put yourself in customer's shoes to understand what they want, then get back to the affiliate shoes and just give it to them. P=

Dog_24 said it well - Music download & make money are perhaps the most competitive markets out there.

First off, you need to find a specific audience with a specific need that's willing to pay to solve it. Then, find a product that fits & meets the need. You can definitely be profitable with using Adwords to generate sales, but you can also lose a lot if you aren't sure how to do so.

As Dog says, try finding a more specific niche with less competition. I would actually say it's good to find some competition in the niche, because then it means that there are other products/people selling in it, unlike a lot of niches that really will never be profitable because people are just looking for free information.

Well... presumably, once you find a niche, you will know it is one ;)

Basically, an easy way is to look at what people are buying. You can do this by browsing any major site - eBay, Amazon, Paypal shops, magazines.com, etc etc.

Find out what people like, what they 'have to have' - and more importantly, why. Why why why.

Why do they need gadget x or fashionable item y? What will product z do for them that they can't live without?

Once you figure out the "who" and the "why", the rest is simple - set up a landing page and ad campaign that addresses both of these, and you will make sales.

Yeah, and you can find see what keywords they use to search. Use some keyword research tools like Overture and Wordtracker.

But don't bid on general keywords like 'make money' because there are thousands of ways to 'make money' so you must be specific on the method you're offering. Like if you're showing them how to 'make money on ebay' then you MUST bid on that keywords and those that are related to the keyword.

Just an example, though this can apply to all niches.

I myself have tried many adwords campaigns for different affiliate systems. The best I was doing was always around break-even. I never made any big success with it.

I have spent tens of thousands of dollars on adwords and I believe that am pretty experienced with it.

My advise is do not expect to make money from selling affiliate stuff through adwords. Clicks are simply way too expensive and they are tending to rise with exponential rates.

Adowrds is good for other purposes. I have stopped using it for driving traffic to affiliate stores.

Unfortunately I agree with the guy who said he made nothing. Iv tried to use adwords to make money out of affiliates, the clicks are just to expensive compared to the money you make.
