I installed Wordpress with Fantastico and now they have a new version, and I don't really know how to upgrade. Can I upgrade using Fantastico? If so, would I need to back it up? I tried earlier, but it said I had to change permissions for a lot of files including public html, and I didn't want to go through all of that until I knew exactly what I was doing.
Doesn't using Fantastico to upgrade wipe out any modifications you've made? I would think it would even write over any new template you've been using in addition to any plugins you've installed.

Because not all hosts have Fantastico. There is also a plugin called instant upgrade that will upgrade your WP to the latest version.
Didn't see the upgrade link. There was only a new installation link that didn't work since it's already installed.
