how to upgrade vb 3.6.9 to 3.7.1 or 3.7.2

hello friends! Please help me! i wann upgrade my Vb version! can anyone help me?

I had installed Vbseo! is it possible to directly upgrade or i need to uninstall vbseo?

Depending on which version you are using, you can simply download a patch from the Member's Area. You can extract the files and upload the ones you have to. Then navigate to the upgrade.php file from your browser.

This will update your forum, you don't need to uninstall any modifications. Once you update the forum, go to your ACP. On the main page it will tell you that X number of templates need to be changed since upgrade (usually for other themes than default). You can choose to apply these changes, or leave them. I tend to save a copy of the old template, apply the changes and then apply any custom changes to the new template.

I am running vBulletin 3.6.8. I want the latest.

 

Just download the most recent version from the VBulletin members area, edit the config.php file, upload the files and run the upgrade script.

Before you do all that - you want to be sure to check your custom theme to make sure it going to works with 3.7.2. 3.7 has extra images that 3.6.8 does not have, mainly images for peoples profiles.

And be sure check any mods you have. 3.7 added some security checks that will break some modifications. The post thanks mod broke from 3.7 to 3.72. A certain shout box will break from 3.6.8 - 3.7.

You can keep track of the mods you have installed, if they were downloaded through vbulletin.org.

 

Are you sure you change the config.php on the new install? I though you just leave it as confog.php.new so it doesn't rewrite over the current one?

My theme is basically the default with width changes. So would I need to edit it much? http://www.pokeproject.net/forums/ I don't want to be paying someone to make all the changes again.

Also I have no MODs installed.

 

Once you download the most recent version of VB, it will have instructions on how to upgrade.

I am going to guess this is the first time you have updated your site, because you are like 4 versions behind. Do worry about it, its no big deal. Just follow the instructions and you dont have anything to worry about.

Be SURE to back up your database before you do anything. Then back up the database again right after the upgrade. The 3.7 and higher versions are pretty nice and well worth the upgrade. Your members will really like the new picture gallery option.

 

I have read the instructions.

You know when I upload all of the "upload" folder. Do I keep it named upload? or do I change it to forums before I upload it so it overwrites the old files?

just upload the files, edit the config file and go to your install/ directory

you will upload the "upload" folder to your forum..

open the upload folder up, you'll see it's the same as your forum folder.. admincp,, includes, images... etc..

 

Can I just use the current config.php file? Leave the new one as config.php.new?

I just used the new config.php and everything worked correctly.

However my edited default skin needs updating. I have no skinning experience will I be able to do this myself? If it's simple can someone tell how?
