You can't update Google Cache, they update it. If you domain name is aged and got PR, you'll show up when caching.
Is there any way to "hasten" the update by Google?? For example, one of our urls currently cached by google, www.cardsshoppe.com/productlist.asp?catid=10 was redirected to http://www.cardsshoppe.com/Graduati...Graduation-Announcements-Invitations-10-1.htm a couple of years ago, and has recently been redirected to http://www.cardsshoppe.com/graduation-announcements/ Both redirects have been 301 Permanent ReDirects. Any idea why Google has not updated the original cache of www.cardsshoppe.com/productlist.asp?catid=10 has gone so long without a cache update. Any, by the way, the current SERP is located on Page 1 of Google for 'graduation invitations' so it is in a pretty good position. Thanks, for your ideas and input.
The cache updates faster depending on the rank in googles eyes, Dp proberly gets re cached very often, whilst less important sites get cached every 2 weeks.
You may add this to your site: <meta name="robots" content="noarchive" /> then your site shall receive no cache as a result.
I always find that Goolge's cache gets updated depending on content, if you regulalrly upload new content to a site, each time Google crawls that site it'll find that new content, if this happens for a period of time then Google will begin to visit your site more oftern because it knows that it'll find new content there so it'll have a more up-to-date search for the keywords that are included in that site. However a site that doesn't update it's content regularly will not get crawled and cached very oftern.
add your pages to: - social media sites like digg.com - add your sitemap xml to Webmaster tools of Google, only works 1 time
Just make sure that you add content regularly and not too much at any one time, the trick is to trickle information onto the site. A small amount each day instead of waiting for 3-4 days and throwing loads of content onto the site to make up for it. Small amounts of regular content on the site shows growth to the google spiders, that way they'll keep coming back
Completely pointless - A) as others have said you don't tell google when you want them to come, they're in control not you. Though you can set a tag to give a date to stop crawling B) these are the metatags google recognises and that isn't amongst them - http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=79812
This is true, You can try and get google to come back more oftern by strategically optimizing your site and content but you cannot say exactly when Google will come. Be nice if we could though wouldn't it?
You can usually get google to recrawl your site faster if you do some social bookmarking or submit a few articles to the larger directories. This is very weird, my site's cache was updated three times today, but it's gone from SERP because I deleted bunch of contents, uploaded some new designs. Hopefully it comes back. At least Google bot has been busy.
My opinion is if we have more back links from social bookmarking sites google bot regularly visit our sites. Also I feel the DP signature can help this a lot.
I would leave it alone and ride things out, shoot for quality over forcing something. Things take time...
