hi! I want to know how to update my sitemap! i have a website and sitemap is accessible as mysite.com/sitemap.xml
Pretty much. I use an offsite java sitemap generator that also displays broken links. Kills two birds at the same time. Might be helpful if you told us how you were generating the sitemap in the first place.
You can although it's not necessary. Google does grab the sitemap every so often. It'll notice that it's new on it;s own. It's probably quicker to resubmit the request though.
if you use wordpress you can use plugin with sitemap just search in plugin column and then install after that you have to activate and every time you make update that will update sitemap
There is not any hard and fast rule to submit your sitemap in Google webmaster tools. If your website architecture is good and you are updating content regularly, then you do not need to worry about updating your sitemap. But in just opposite case, if the website navigation architecture in not good, then how crawler will move to deep internal pages and crawl those pages. In that case we submit our sitemap to google webmaster tools to let Google know about our website existing links and then crawler move directly to that link to get crawled that page.. Thank you.Have a nice day.
I see there's a Wordpress plugin to automatically update sitemaps. Does anyone know ogf any tool that can automatically update a normal website regularly (not a blog)?
you can update your sitemap directly by textpad and uploading it to te server. you can submit it also using google webastertoools using the resubmit button after editing it.
I find that the Wordpress plugin for sitemaps is a very handy tool. It makes sitemaps a no brainer. Wordpress does work as a CMS and can be used for sites that are not blogs. For those of you not sure if you want to make the jump to Wordpress or some other CMS, automatic sitemap generation is a compelling reason to do so.
