How to turn of content network for individual adgroup?

    Hi,

I've got some adgroups for which the content network is performing very poorly, but I can't seem to figure out how to turn the content network off for those adgroups only, rather than at campaign level. Can this be done, and if so can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks for any pointers...

    It can't be done.

BUT, you can put your content bid to 1 cent. That should either send you now traffic or some super cheap traffic.

Thanks for the pointer. So, one more question: how do I alter just the content bid? I can alter any of my keywords individually but the content network one just grabs the default bid. Do I have to alter my default bid? Is this why everyone recommends to set up separate campaigns for content network?

you can seperate content bids from search bids using adwords editor. Its clearly labeled, but you should not be combining search and content because they work independently from each other. The keyword strategy for content network is 1000 times different than the search network.

also the content network is much larger than the search network and can spend a lot of money and generate a lot of clicks. if you have a successful search campaign, turning on the content network can kill your sales and conversions by sucking up the budget faster than the search network normally spends

    example

if search network spend $100 per day and generate 10 sales, and then you turn on content network, then content network might spend $100 in one hour leaving your search campaign empty so it cannot get any more clicks for the day, killing your targeted traffic and then you lose out on your 10 sales per day and drop to 0 sales.
