Hello, I just purchased a domain name on Dec, 2008 but I want to change my domain name to something else so it corresponds to the content of my website. I want to have new domain name without losing anything from current website. Can someone plz help me out to successfully change my domain name? It should be easy for u guys.

1 - purchase new domain 2 - host new domain on same host (unless you need to switch hosts) 3 - copy files over to the public_html/new_domain folder 4 - make any modifications to the code in your site (if you are using good code, you will need to change only a few things even though you might have hundreds of pages on your domain) 5 - add the redirect as mentioned above All done!
^Okay, Transferring my files from public_html or domain folder is fine, but alot of files need to be moved around 500 mb ... is it gonna take long?
If you use SSH and try transferring, then it wouldn't as I suppose the server speeds are much higher than the ISP at your side. If not, then too would be about 2-3 hours. Nothing much. Turn it to .Zip file and then extract it on the server side.
You will have to register a new domain name, and replace the old one. Your hosting company should have a form or something you can fill out so that they will do the change for you. If not, they can direct you in the right direction. There may also be a fee on top of that.
from the host, u can change the domain name on ur cpanel.. park the old domain on top of this / do a site redirect to ur new domain,.. no server change / backup is required,.
