Firstly you can trasnfer domain from name.com without any payment to name.com. You will pay only transfer fee to godaddy.

    Follow these steps.
    1. Login to you name.com account.

Well, to add, I believe one of your question about whether the transfer is free if you transfer from name.com to godaddy and the answer is NO.

The buyer would need to pay for the transfer fees which amounts to 1 year subscription of the domain name and that would tag an additional year for the name.

It would actually be easier if he set up a free name.com account and then you just do a free push to him. He just need to maintain the name for 60 days before transferring it to GoDaddy. It is less of a problem that way since the ownership of the domain name do not change.

Because what you want to do is to change both ownership and registrar which can get complicating although it is not impossible.
