Can anyone tell me how to transfer a domain to another user? If I transfer it on the same registrar does it cost money or is it free?

If it is at GoDaddy, it's free.

Generally transferring to a new owner while keeping the name at the same registrar is free... This is usually called an "account change".....

Usually pushing a name to another account with the same company is free. What company are you talking about anyway?

If you use godaddy they don't charge you.
log in to godaddy..click to my domains..
    select your domain
then click on the register change/account change
then give account number(where you are pushing) and the mail address
then click and OK in the all next windows.thanks

YOu dont have to give the account number.. I don't like doing that either... So if your transfering a domain, the person transferring has to enter all the new contact details to push it without the account number.... Giving the account number just makes it easier (pre fills in fields), but in my book, not worth it.

If it is a domain with 1and1...the transfer will NOT be free for the new owner !
They will be charged a full registration fee at the current rate.

If it is Godaddy and just about every other big registrar, you can push the domain for free.

Wild West registrars/Godaddy have a procedure that is almost identical at each one of their
    registrars and resellers.
loverctgu explained one way to complete the transfer.

There are a few other ways, depending on what information you have to work with.

Other registrars like Moniker and Name require a transaction code, which can be found near the new owners
username once they are logged in. That is the only thing the other person will need to send you in order for you
to complete the transfer (well, that and maybe an e-mail address...not sure, it's been a while...I don't remember)

Places such as Enom, Dotster and NameCheap ...you need only the other persons username.

Please state what specific registrar you are using and more specific information can be offered.
