Perhaps this Live Chat with Yahoo is useful to you...

    Vayton: Hi Raven.

Raven: Hi! Welcome to our Yahoo! Mail Live Chat service. I'm glad you've joined us.

Vayton: Thank you for providing us the details of your issue.

Raven: I believe that you want to transfer your WebHosting domain, right?

    Vayton: Correct.

Raven: Thank you for bringing this matter to us. I apologize for the inconvenience this might have caused you. Please give me a moment while I verify your issue.

Vayton: I need a Authorization Code.

    Raven: Thank you for waiting.

Vayton: No problem. Did you get an answer yet?

Raven: You need to call our WebHosting Team to address and fix your issue. They have the right knowledge to fix your concern.

Vayton: Okay. I assume that you have their email address and their phone number? I will need both. Plus, I will need to know their hours of operation and the specific division that I need to speak with.

Raven: Okay. Let me check that. One moment please.

Raven: Thank you for waiting. We only have there phone number, Vayton.

    Vayton: Okay. Whatever you have.

Raven: Please call 866-800-8092 to reach the WebHosting team.

Raven: Is there anything else I can help you with?

Vayton: So, you can confirm that it is possible to transfer my domain from Yahoo?

Raven: I can't answer that question for you since it is beyond my expertise.

Vayton: Okay then. Thank you. Good bye.

    Follow up...

If you have a Small Business account set up than this is a different process. However, if you set up a personal domain name, than you need to contact Yahoo and have it cancelled. Then they will provide you with an Authorization code, all before you can have it transferred. The process is extreeeeeemmely loooooong and you are painfully being serviced by highly trained human robot voices.

So, you need to first begin by asking for "Other Billing" @ 1-866-562-7219, extensions... Option 1, Option 5.

1st: Confirm that you want to cancel the Domain Name and obtain an Authorization Code
    2nd: Answer some verification questions
    3rd: Cancellation process begins
    4th: Long Holding Period
5th: Transferring from the Technical Staff to continue processing of the Authorization Code
    6th: Very Long Holding Period
    7th: Discussing Refund
    8th: Long Holding Period
    9th: Transferring to Premier Tech Support @ 1-866-562-7219, Option: 2, Option: 1, Option: 2, Option: 4
10th: Answer some verification questions "again"
11th: Transferring to an Engineering Escalation
    12th: Long Holding Period
13th: Told that they would send me my Authorization Code

Three Days for the $10.00 Refund
Three Days for the Authorization Code
Three Reference Numbers (i.e., Original, Billing, Esclation) were given to me.
Three Times I was asked to verify myself.
    Thirty-Eight Minutes and Forty-Three seconds

Still waiting for my Authorization code....

Yahoo! prevents unauthorized transfers of your domain to another registrar or web host by "locking" your domain name servers.

    read the topic domain locking
